About the Orchestras
The George Jenkins High School Orchestra is made up of three performing ensembles:Emerald, Gold, and Maroon Orchestras. The Gold and Maroon Orchestras are open to any student on campus and are non-auditioned ensembles. The Emerald Orchestra is made up of Sophomores-Seniors, auditions are held annually in the Spring. The GJHS Orchestra is under the direction of Shelby Montgomery.

The Lakeland Highlands Middle School Orchestra is made up of two performing ensembles: Concert Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra. The Concert orchestra is made up of students with up to a year of experience. Students with no experience may join this orchestra in any grade.The Symphonic Orchestra is made up of students who have completed MJ Orchestra 1.
Students in orchestra participate in many events throughout the year including: All-County, Solo and Ensemble, All-State, Music Performance Assessment, Madrigals, Baccalaureate, and other events throughout the community. |
